Gary Sims Honored as General Manager of the Year


 


LA QUINTA, Calif. –  May 10, 2012 – Earning top industry accolades for both its management and facilities, La Quinta Resort & Club and PGA WEST received recognition as Luxury Hotel/Resort of the Year, with its managing director Gary Sims lauded as General Manager of the Year in the same category at Hilton Worldwide and Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts’ 2011 GM Awards ceremony, held recently at The Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Chicago.


 


La Quinta Resort & Club earned top honors at the annual event, which bestowed awards to Hilton/Waldorf Astoria properties in nine categories, among them: Excellence for each spa and food and beverage operations; guest satisfaction; most improved profitability; green initiatives and more. Honored in the luxury property category, Sims was among five general managers from throughout the country recognized. General managers were honored based on several criteria, such as guest satisfaction and service, while the Luxury Hotel of the Year was given to La Quinta Resort & Club based on its business acumen, as well as guest satisfaction and service.


 


According to Rick Blackburn, executive director of sales and marketing for La Quinta Resort & Club, hotels and resorts were judged from amongst 300 full service and focused service Hilton Worldwide hotels and resorts in the Americas. “This is a tremendous honor for us,” he said. “It truly reflects the increasing quality of our resort and its many services and amenities, as well as the vision of our management, dedication of our staff and overall commitment to providing our guests with exceptional levels of service.”
