Tennis-Top100Voted one of the top tennis resorts in the world, La Quinta Resort Tennis Club attracts a veritable Who’s Who of celebrities and pros – from Novak Djokovic to Maria Sharapova. The tennis program got underway in 1978 when a consortium of famed former players – led by Charlie Pasarell, along with Tom Gorman, Arthur Ashe, Stan Smith, Bob Lutz, Marty Riessen, Roscoe Tanner and Dennis Ralston – joined forces to create one of the premier tennis facilities in the country. Pasarell and his team helped the resort gain national attention by staging a high-profile professional tournament sponsored by Grand Marnier, now known as the BNP Paribas Open, which eventually resulted in the resort’s sunken tournament-style center court, built in 1981.

The resort’s staff of USPTA-certified professionals offer programs for players of every level, including year-round weekend morning clinics, with daily clinics conducted during holidays and the BNP Paribas Open. Whether you’re a casual player or a serious competitor, La Quinta Resort’s range of instruction for groups and individuals will enhance every aspect of your game, from technical skills to overall fitness and peak performance. The goal is to help build a more complete player, while delivering an enjoyable experience.

Court Fees: Resort guests pay $28/hour on hard courts, $38/hour on clay and $32/hour on Centre Court. Fees are included as part of Citrus Club membership.

Racquet Rentals: Head and Wilson racquets are for rent at the Pro Shop, with regular racquets available for $10 and premium racquets for $15.

Executive Director of Tennis: A USPTA certified teaching professional with more than 40 rolley (1)years of instruction and coaching expertise, Rolley previously served as Director of Tennis at Berkeley Tennis Club in Berkeley, California where she was responsible for all member operations since 2007. She also held posts as Tournament Director for the Girls’ and Seniors’ National Championships. Her lifelong passion turned career also included posts as Director of Women’s Tennis for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) wherein she coached Jennifer Capriati and U.S. Open winner Lindsey Davenport to center court. Rolley is also the first woman to coach a men’s collegiate tennis team in the U.S., early in her career at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California.

Instruction: La Quinta Resort & Club and PGA WEST offers top-notch tennis instruction led by a team of USPTA-certified professionals, for both individuals and groups, including Saturday & Sunday morning adult clinics throughout the year, as well as cardio tennis sessions and junior clinics during the peak season. Special drills and events are also offered throughout the year.

SUNDAYS

6:30 am – Yoga Hike
This invigorating 90 class combines a fitness walk through the back nine of the Mountain Golf Course with 20 minutes of Yoga at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains at the 16th hole. The beauty of the desert is all around you and it’s the perfect way to start your day.

7:45 am – Morning Meditation [Mind & Movement Studio]
Spending even a few minutes in meditation can restore your calm and inner peace. Start you morning with a guided meditation session that will incorporate oxygenating breathing techniques.

8:00 am – Adult Tennis Clinic

9:00 am – Vinyasa Flow [Mind & Movement Studio]
This class will flow your poses together and use your breath as an anchor to the movement as you flow from one pose to the next in time with an inhale or an exhale.

10:30 am – Water Walk and Wellness [Lap Pool]
Add some variety to your water fitness class by incorporating 10 pound weighted belts. Water walking, treading water, and strength training will balance out this water workout that will finish with stretching in our heated therapy pool.

MONDAYS

6:30 am – ICE [Yoga & Motion Studio]
Indoor Cycling Experience – This innovative riding experience simulates an outdoor ride and will have you climbing hills and sprinting the flat terrain. Classes are designed to increase endurance, raise energy levels, and burn up to 800 calories per class while increasing your metabolism.

7:00 am – Fitness Walk
This 2.7 walk takes you on a tour of the back nine of our the world famous Mountain Golf Course. You will climb the stairs to the top of the 16th hole and take in the panoramic views of the Coachella Valley. Don’t forget your camera!

7:45 am – Yoga Stretch [Mind & Movement Studio]
This is the perfect class to start your day. Warm up your muscles through traditional yoga poses while incorporating additional stretches to elongate and lengthen muscles.

8:30 am – Tabata Bootcamp [Yoga & Motion Studio]
Cardio intervals, inspired by the 20 second work/10 second recover training program, that incorporates strength training and stretching.

9:00 am – Men’s Day/Organized Tennis Doubles

9:00 am – Poolside Barre [Lap Pool]
Barre based exercises taught in and out of the pool. Improve balance and strength in this fun and innovate fitness class. Your workout will finish with a relaxing stretch in our heated hydro therapy pool.

9:30 am – Mat Pilates [Yoga & Motion Studio]
This class will help transform the way your body looks, feels and performs with a focus on whole body health.

10:30 am – Muscle Recovery and Release [Yoga & Motion Studio]
Effectively increase flexibility and shorten muscle recovery time.  This class is designed to release and lengthen muscles through a series of foam roller/trigger point techniques that will be followed by a series of self stretches.

11:00 am – H2yO [Lap Pool]
A slow, focused, moving meditation water (pool and therapy pool) and land exercise that will help improve wellness and balance.

TUESDAYS

7:00 am – Beginning Spin [Yoga & Motion Studio]
A great place to start if you are new to spinning or as a class built into part of your weekly routine. All levels welcome.

8:30 am – Barre Above [Yoga & Motion Studio]
Classes are designed for participants to experience a mind body workout that will increase flexibility, lean muscle mass, improve balance, posture and core stability. Classes are taught on and off the barre and incorporate a variety of fitness accessories.

9:00 am – Ladies Day/Organized Tennis Doubles

9:45 am – Aqua Power/Hydro Recovery [1900s Pool Area]
A 30 min full body workout cardio endurance and resistance training in the pool with a 15 min stretch in the therapy pool.

11:00 am – PiYo [Mind & Movement Studio]
(Pilates and Yoga) A combination class that brings the best of Pilates and Yoga together into one class!

11:00 am – Power Spin [Yoga & Motion Studio]
Go on a real physical journey without leaving your seat! This ride comes complete with nonstop peaks and valleys.

WEDNESDAYS

6:00 am – Cycology [Yoga & Motion Studio]
A spin class that emphasizes the development of mental and physical toughness. This session will take you on a mental journey, venturing into visualization, breathing techniques and cycling drills. This class is designed to benefit both your body and mind as well as motivate you from within.

8:30 am – Strength Conditioning [Yoga & Motion Studio]
A full and balanced workout that will build lean muscle and increase strength and stamina overall.

9:00 am – Deep Water Tabata [Main Pool]
A complete high intensity training modality with all the power without the impact. Recommended as a alternative and cross training program for all sports.

9:45 am – FUNctional Fitness [Yoga & Motion Studio]
This class will engage muscles in the upper and lower body at the same time while also emphasizing core stability. This class will help build a strong body capable of doing real-life activities in real-life positions.

10:00 am – Aqua Sculpt [Main Pool]
Strength training with water resistant equipment that will increase muscle tone, range of motion, and core stability with minimal joint impact.

8:00 am – 30-minute Abs [Yoga & Motion Studio]
Intense, fun, and over before you know what hit you. Great as a stand alone class or a perfect compliment to another class!

8:15 am – Kickboxing  [Mind & Movement Studio]
A powerful interval training class and an effective way to mix up your workouts. We will add Core to the class on Thursdays and keep it extreme on Fridays with intervelocity sets. A series of high intensity cardio segments followed by shorter segments of strength training.

9:00 am – Warrior Yoga  [Yoga & Motion Studio]
This specialized class is a physical therapy that focuses equally on balance, strength, and flexibility. This potent form of movement meditation promotes purification and union between body, mind, and spirit.

9:30 am – HydroFusion  [Lap Pool]

10:00 am – Yin Yoga  [Yoga & Motion Studio]
Yin yoga is the fastest growing yet slowest-paced style of yoga with poses or asanas that are held for 3-5 minutes each for an optimum stretch.

11:15 am – Zenergy H2O  [Lap Pool]
Powerful water movements combined with mind body intervals make this class a creative and effective water experience.

This fun and variety packed class will use the barre as well as target a variety fitness aspects such as strength, balance, stability, core strength, agility, endurance and more.

This 60 minutes class will walk from our fitness center to the Mountain Dunes Clubhouse where you will be surrounded by the Dunes Golf Course while you are guided through your yoga, meditation, and breathing series.

8:00 am – Guided Bike Tour
Join us on a guided bike tour along the shared walking and biking trail based at the Santa Rosa Mountains. Please arrive 15 minutes early to set up for tour. Limited to 10 riders. Fitness level: Moderate due to inclination on the trail.
